Dear friends and small business partners,
It's a new year and for many of us that means it is time to invest in
ourselves and our profession. Let me encourage you to consider joining
hundreds of other small business leaders, representatives of federal
Government small business organizations, and key state and federal
Government leaders on May 25, 2005 at the VisTaTech Center at Schoolcraft
College in Livonia, MI for our 2nd Annual U.S. Army Corps of Engineers /
Society of American Military Engineer/Small Business Administration
- sponsored Small Business Conference.
Last year's conference, held in April at Selfridge Air National Guard
Base in Southeast Michigan, included over 250 attendees. It served as a
magnificent opportunity for networking, and included discussions about
upcoming federal government contracting opportunities and presentations on
topics ranging from individual small business success stories to
mentor-protégé relationships. The conference feedback validated both the
conference goals and the need to follow-up with another similar gathering
this year.
I expect this year's small business conference to be a wonderful opportunity to grow your business,
share lessons learned, develop new relationships, and add some new tools to your organizational toolkit. We
have invited all of the region's federal government partners, many local large businesses who value the
responsibilities of the small business mentor, and several exciting keynote speakers. Our current agenda is
available for viewing, and will continue to be updated as we get closer to May 25th.
I also encourage all business leaders, whether of small or large organizations, to consider an investment in your own
personal leadership by subscribing to the "Leader Business" newsletter, available as a link from the Small Business
Conference Registration form and authored by Lieutenant Colonel Thomas H. Magness, last year's conference host. Consider it
another tool in your personal leadership toolkit. I expect that, by the end of the conference in May, your toolkit
will be more than full!
Again, we fully expect this year's conference to be even better than last year. We've moved to a venue that will
allow us to bring more of the region's small business leaders under one roof. Co-sponsorship this year by the
Small Business Administration will undoubtedly further assure a successful conference. Additional sponsorship by
several of the region's larger businesses with a passion for small business success will help keep attendance costs
to a very reasonable level. Again, conference details and registration information is available on our website at
www.paconsultinginc.com/registration.php.
I look forward to seeing you all at Schoolcraft College on the 25th of May.
Directions to Schoolcraft College can be found on their website www.schoolcraft.edu.
If I may provide you with any additional information, please do not hesitate

Sincerely,
Anne D. Parker
Small Business Conference Committee Chairperson
